China, Part 3: Fun in Nanning

On August 8, adoption day, we woke up to find a still-sleeping Lillie-Kat. We let her sleep as long as possible, then woke her up for breakfast. A new day had certainly begun! Though still wary, she now clung to us as well as to pink bunny! We quickly learned that breakfast with a toddler is not a quick affair, especially since our punkin loves to eat! Then it was back to the Civil Affairs Office for the official adoption. Lillie-Kat wasn't thrilled about going back in there, but I kept her in the hip hammock and she stayed calm, even giving out a few smiles. The interviewer asked us if we were pleased with Lillie-Kat and did we want to keep her... uuuum YEAH!! She asked us our plans for her and we talked about wanting to give her the best of everything, especially an education. The adoption officer really liked that and warmed up to us. Even though we look ghastly, here's a picture of us on adoption day: I got to speak to the nanny from the orphanage a bit and learned that Lillie-Kat was still on formula, not a picky eater, that she loves to go outside to play, and that she loves to go shopping. Yay! We also found out she loves a kind of drinkable yogurt, which we promptly went out to buy: Then we had to go to the notary, and while we waited outside, Lillie-kat and her baba got some face time: The rest of our time in Nanning was pretty relaxed. We went to a big park with a temple and did a blessing for Lillie-Kat, and then she got to feed the gigantic goldfish. She tried the goldfish food, and decided it was ok for the fish to eat instead! There was a big pagoda too - Lillie-Kat and I stayed grounded and ate ice cream, but James went up. We took a family photo in front of it: Everywhere we went Lillie-Kat attracted attention, especially at the Nanning Wal-Mart. Maybe because she is a rockstar in training? Her favorite place in the hotel room was this chair: In fact, she liked to sit there and eat like a big girl: Finally, after five and a half wonderful days in Nanning, it was time to head to Guangzhou. The packing must have been exhausting for Baba and Lillie-Kat (nevermind that mama did it all!). Here's a final snooze in that chair before heading off to the airport: Next up... playing around Guangzhou and heading home!

The Daddy and Daughter pictures are enough to bring the biggest tears to my eyes. What a wonderful heartwarming sight!

Have I told you how cute she is?? (this is getting funny - huh?) I'll keep saying it.
